Today, I had a Punch 2005 - Edición Regional Suiza(the 2007 re-release) and nearly two years ago a 1998 Monarca tubo. Both were really enjoyable and great gifts(thank you brothers) but the ones I've had that were standard/newer releases were unremarkable. Maybe they need time or maybe the sizes I've had just aren't for me. Anyone have good experience's with certain sizes of standard/newer release Punch? Looking for some recommendations....thanks.

I had a January 2012 double corona last night that was phenomenal. I wasn't expecting anything good from it but the construction was top notch, and flavor was delicate and refined

I haven't had any luck with Punch... the ones I've had I won't need to smoke again. I will be trying one more time with the 2011 Descobridores Portugal RE but will wait awhile before trying one.

Give the punch punch a try. Probably the only one in that marca that I've enjoyed.

Wasn't there a thread sometime six to nine months ago about how the blend changed dramatically in the late 2000s? I had some RS11s from 2007 or so and some Punch Churchill tubos from 2005 that were out of this world. Have not tried much recent production but have heard a lot of criticism.

I believe that Punch changed it's blend in 2006. Most people I've spoken with about it, think it was a change for the worse. I have smoked 1998 Churchills, 2004 Double Coronas and 05 Punch Punch.... all fantastic cigars. Recently I smoked some 2011 Punch Churchills and a few Double Coronas and found them to be excellent as well, although not as powerful as the pre 06. I tried to buy a box of Punch Double Coronas last winter, but the vendor was slow to send them. Eventually found out he was out of stock and bought the Hoyo De Monterrey Double Corona instead. DIC 2010. Now that is an excellent cigar! Nice dark wrappers and just full of complex flavors!
I would think you couldn't go wrong with the Churchills. Try one ROTT, then let them sit for some months before trying another.

Edit- I recently tried a 2011 Punch Descobridores RE Portugal. It was very floral and sweet, with exotic spice that lingered on your tounge and lips. I have a box on the way.
