I received an email from Corona Cigars about these, anybody tried them yet?

Several people that purchased the CRA Sampler said it had a really good Punch cigar in it....I'm wondering if these could be that cigar.

Cigar manufacturers are always looking for new places to grow tobacco that could yield truly unique cigar experiences. General Cigar Company has found it; Ometepe is an island in Lake Nicaragua that is made up of 2 volcanoes. Volcanic soil is full of nutrients that help tobacco plants grow and mature. They’ve taken the fruits of their labors and began to introduce it into the cigar world.

The Punch Uppercut is a brand new Punch cigar for 2009. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a new Punch release, but it was worth the wait. The Punch Uppercut features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Ometepe Nicaraguan filler. Delivering a 1-2 punch, The Uppercut is a medium to full-bodied cigar with deep notes of earth and leather with a slight tingling spice left across the palate on its finish. The flavor of the Punch Uppercut might knock you out, but its price won’t leave you on the ropes.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sumatra
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Ometepe Nicaraguan
Body: Medium to Full

I have smoked the punch CRA version, and it was a tasty cigar... If the uppercut is the same cigar, I'd gladly buy a box.

From what I understand the punch uppercut and the CRA are 'different' only in the fact they report on the cra site their 'cra blend' is a Nicaraguan and Dominican filler and Nicaraguan wrapper. I have both at the house (waiting to do a review on the CRA blend) and will def smoke the uppercut as close to the cra blend as I can for differences.

**edit**
Forgot to say also Nicaraguan binder

So, finally got around to taking pictures - After checking them side by side - def not the same stick

Length is different as well (doesnt show up too well on pic) slight color difference on wrapper

Here we can see the CRA blend on the left and the Uppercut on the right - totally different filler used - I'm surprised

Last pic we can see the cra blend has a much more rustic wrapper (tooth i think is the right term, not sure lol) and the right one - Uppercut - has as much more oily and smooth wrapper.

All in all - I can't wait to try both haha!

Not really a big Punch fan other than the Rare Corojo and the Champion. Went to my local B&M and they have a 3 pack sampler in a nice box for $14.99. I couldn't turn that down. I going to try to let them rest a little before I chop their heads off and smoke em. So far I hear that they are pretty good. I guess we shall see....

My favorite cheapie smoke is punch and I have to say as long as you like punch smoke profiles I would say this is a great smoke. I think the corojo is a more complex smoke with this trailing closely behind.
