Hopefully that is. Yesterday I went to a dove hunt with some guys I didn't really know. The conversation naturally turned to shotguns then to cigars. One of the guys was proud of the Acid he had just picked up, and cut with his pocket knife. Yes, I'm serious.

I sent him home with the smokes I had in the truck, which wasn't much, and a cheap cutter. He ended up with a Short Story, Baitfish, and RP Decade, And instructions to check out this wonderful site. Sorry I don't have pics but I thought that might be a little weird for him.

Hope he falls off the slope hard and my smokes didn't go to waste. Just had to share !!

Good on you. Looks like you're pushing him in the right direction. A small gesture like that could really make an impression on someone.

Good on ya! I have been working on my next door neighbor. I invite him over for a cigar every week or two on the patio. Last Friday he was asking where and how to find a small humidor. We have smoked together about a dozen times and he is really enjoying it. I have a small 30 ct. that isn't being used and some decent cigars that I probably will never smoke so I think I am gonna hook him up. Plus I can make a little room. He has taken to my Tatuaje's and I can't afford much more of that. Then I can take him down to the local B&M and introduce him to Michael the owner and show him BOTL.com and let nature run its course.

This is awesome! Before I found this site I smoked pretty regularly but nothing that was very good. I bought a lot of cheapie bundles from CI and did enjoy them. After coming here and being educated though, the quality of my smokes have gone up significantly and I while I have always shared with friends, I make sure what I share will open their eyes to how great this hobby is.

lol, Javelin, I've heard that before... I was just attempting some humor there...

Although, when I gave up cigarettes, I did smoke my share of swishers... this was before I discovered the finer things..... But saying that... I remember them somewhat fondly.... You know just in memory...

Very cool gesture.

As a side note, there's actually a really cool way to cut a cigar with a pocket knife.

I've smoked my share of swishers back in the day. Their wrapper is great for um...... Other things. Lol.

Very nice. I have and find my self sharing with people that have smoked Black and Mild and Swishers some just wants them. In fact one of my friends for the past 20 years would always tell me no thanks when i would offer him a fine stick. Gave up asking him about 10 years ago. Well a couple of weeks ago I was over there helping with his Shed. We sit down after we put 3 of the 4 walls in place to take a break. I go and get my little Travel Humidor, pull out a Padron 1926 #35. Pull out my cutter and touch. He looks at me like why waste your cigar smoke one of mine and tries to hand me a Prime Time. I was like no I don't smoke cigs, he was like no no this is a little cigar. I laugh i was like if that is a little cigar then here smoke a REAL cigar. I cut it and Toast it and offer him the #35. Handing him the lighter to finish the lighting. I go and grab another one. Right after the cut I hear him hacking up a lung. I am like you alright as I am toasting my cigar getting it ready to light! he was like you trying to kill me. I was no just trying to have you smoke a real cigar. He was like mine are real cigars. I as like no.They are there to try and get away from Tax man.. I smoking away my Cigar and he keeps looking at me like you enjoy your cigars. He gives it back and I was like ok I am not going to waste this took my cutter and cut off both ends and told him I will just enjoy it later in my pipe. Almost any other cigar I smoke I would have just left it there so he could have remembered a real cigar. He tells me later he likes the smell of my cigars but won't smoke them...

As usual, a contrary view here. I think the brotherhood is great but not much of an apostle here... sorry. Smoking cigars is a highly personal issue.... not only what we smoke, but where and with whom. I am not at all comfortable with suggesting to anyone even his method of prepping a cigar.... a knife is as good as a $ 45 Xikar V-cut, if that's what a guy is comfortable with. My daily smoke is an unlabeled bundle choice.... if someone thinks by gifting me a $ 15 cigar he's really doing me a favor (edging me down a "slippery slope,") thanks but no thanks.... I'm old enough to spend my time and money as I wish, on things
I want.
The OP obviously felt he was doing a nice, generous thing and many responders evidently agree with him. OK, good for all who agreed and encouraged. Personally, I could never bring myself to do that... I am happy to enjoy my little hobby/vice without needing to induce anyone else to mimic me in any way, shape, or form.
Obviously, your mileage does vary!
