Twice now I have sampled an H. Upmann Hamilton and enjoyed it both times. I purchased both cigars at the same cigar dealer. In fact, it is the only place I have come across that sells them. I have not seen them in the offerings of online dealers, nor have I found them in other 'brick and mortar' humidor rooms.

(I've seen other H. Upmann cigars all over the place, of course.)

So, here's my question. What exactly does "Hamiltons" refer to?

Does the term refer to a wrapper/filler combination, analogous to CAO's use of terms like "Brazilia" and "Italia" for example?

Or does it refer to a size/shape, analoagous to "Robusto" and "Churchill"?

I would say that the cigars I smoked were Lonsdales, but I was wondering whether H. Upmann is one of those companies that have their own idiosyncratic names for the sizes of their own cigars.

well, how often does this happen?

I attended an Altadis event at a nearby cigar parlor today. H. Upmann is one of Altadis's brands, so I actually got to ask my question to the company rep. "Hamilton" refers to the shape, and apparantly the reason these are hard to find is that they are an "old" variety of H. Upmann cigar, and most places are always wanting to keep up with what's new.
