Question about Humidor smell...

I just purchased a small desktop humidor from someone here in town. I checked the humidor over before purchasing it and it seemed to be in good condition despite being secondhand. Unfortunately when I got home I opened up the humidor to put in a new set of humidity beads, but noticed a stout smell of aromatic tobacco. I am worried that the smell will get into my new cigars and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to clear out or clean out the smell. I have looked everywhere on BOTL but have not come up with anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info I thought about that but was unsure of how it would affect the humidor in the long run.

cant see it hurting anything. just put a box in there, and open the box.no need to pour the powder out of the box

The smell has already gone down significantly. Adding the powder to the humi made a big difference. Thanks again for all of the help.
