Ramon Allones Extra LE 2011 Review
Appearance and Construction – I love the look of this cigar. The white band really gives it classy, yet rustic look. The construction was very good with a few visible veins.
Pre-light – A scent of cocoa and cedar. Draw was a little on the tight side, but not too bad.
1/3 –Cedar was the dominate flavor with a bit of pepper on the finish. Some good smoke right out of the gate. Burn was pretty erratic though. Needed one relight here.
2/3 – A little cocoa mixed in with the cedar and pepper here. Burn straightened out a bit, but the smoke drastically died down.
3/3 – The cocoa completely disappeared here and gave way to more of an earthy flavor mixed with cedar and a light pepper. Burn got a bit crazy and had to relight once again.
Final thoughts – This was a very good cigar that I think (and hope) does well with age. I dry boxed for a day, but think two days might have been better. I would rate this at an 87, and without the relights and burn problem, even higher.
