I got a box of these about 9 months ago. Back then they were a year old but when I 1st got them they were not smoking the greatest so I laid them down for a little nap. Today I thought it was time for another.(box split reminded me of them)
Pre inspection of this cigar reminded me of just how lucky I am to be on BOTL and to be able to learn from some of the best. (Even though I've been known to start a conversation)(some would say argument or 2)
I remember a conversation w Moro almost 9 months ago about these cigars. He tought me not only the reg "safety" checks. But how to spot Entubado rolling in a cigar. Which, once this cigar was cut w my Palio had a perfect example at the foot and cut cap. Prelight aroma was light Cuban stank with that tabacco smell as well. This cigar also has that nice "stitching" on the wrapper that most ccs have as well. I didnt notice as much when I 1st received them but it is now more prominant now.
Prelight taste not much but a very, very nice salty almost sardine taste that I immediately fell in love with.
Lit this Vitola up and right away a very smooth, very floral smoke already in the 1st few puffs. Draw is spot on which I'm very happy because I remember these 9 months ago were a bitch to puff on. It also looks like the smoke coming from these 1st few puffs is a ton of smoke.
1st 3rd or so: So far a great smoke and what a turn around this cigar has done. Very little spice on the back of the throat, very floral notes, with a very nice rich(sweetness) , nutty, and small coffee note as well. So far burn is a little lopsided but the draw and smoke volume is exceeding my expectations. Just ashed at about a 1.5 inch and I love that "poof" sound when it hits the floor.
2nd 3rd: Still great volume of smoke and burn has settled down for the most part. Also I didn't dry box this cigar today and my vino was at 67% this a.m.( little high for me). Toasted nuts has come forward with other notes settling down. Also that light bark taste is still hanging on in the backround. No spice to speak of. That salty taste is still a hint in backround and man do I love it. Ash has been holding on for more then a inch at a time. I went to ash it a few mins ago and it actually held on. I think also this cigar today has one of those "Man that smell is good." "What are you smoking?" qualities to it.
Last 3rd: ( received a phone call i had to take kept smoking) Salty twang all but gone now. This cigar has really given me hope for the half of box I have left for the future (bomb runs previous half of box). I know they are going to get even better w another year or two. The burn line has been razor straight last 3rd and the woodyness has really come out. Very nice cool burn down to the nub. I actually again almost blistered the fingers but pitched at a inch. Very nice smoke and I'm glad this box will come in handy down the road.
Finish time 1hr 25 mins.
Rating: It was good what else is there to say.
Thanks for your time.
