The lady is finally back from Spain and she was nice enough to stop in at a B&M to grab me some cigars. I didn't give her any direction so she just grabbed whatever the guy recommended. Any chance these are real Habanos?

I am no expert, but here is the things that concern me. I hope others can chime in as to weather my concerns are valid, or BS. The Cohiba band seems to be applied weird. I do not ever recall seeing one that the band almost overlaps the main logo. The thing that makes me say hmmmm the most is the José L. Piedra Box. If you look at the logo on the box it is real far away from the image of the guy holding leafs. Every example on the cubancigarwebsite.com I see the logo is touching that photo. Again could just be from box sizing. Here is where I found the photos

This was my main concern, but I don't really have anything to reference them against because I'm not a habano smoker. The quality of all the sticks appears really well constructed though :dunno:

I have to agree about the Cohiba bands....they seem very long to me. Unfortunatly, I don't have much experience with the JLP's.

They are real. Enjoy them.
Gonna agree w/ this..

Keep in mind, these are Siglo IIs...so not huge smokes. I'll admit I've never purchased any Sig I's or II's, but would assume some overlap may occur due to the smaller RG. Damn good fake Cohiba band if they're not real...but like I said, I'd go w/ real over fake based off the pics.

The JLPs though..i've got no idea.

Edit: Forgot to add....damn nice wife you got there bro picking up ccs for ya!

I know right?! I didn't even mention I wanted cigars, much less cubans! Even if they were fakes I'd still be impressed :)

Thanks for all the feedback guys

The wrapper looks good at least for the Siglos , and i had some bands falling of which was glued bad but smoked phenomenal .
I believe there is no such thing as fake JLP in this world , over pricing maybe but if they were purchased 20-30USD then they are good . Enjoy !

Question I would ask is where is Spain these were bought. Was it a LCDH?

However, José L. Piedra is not a cigar that is counterfeited much as it is machine made, short filler (most vitolas), cheap smoke, and not very good.

They look good.

Here are some site that might help

You realize that the info in your links is over 13 years old don't you? A thing or 2 may have changed.

There are no LCDH in Spain since the government controls the tobacco prices, and authorizes the sale from estancos.

Concur with the brothers on the JLP, probably authentic since these are inexpensive with short filler although I believe they are now man-made.

As for the Siglo's, not sure what the conterfeit market is for tubos. But I think the band issue can be legitimately explained here. Other cc's use the same band for multiple sizes. If you peel the band carefully enough, many times you will see size marking...maybe it will show something like 40-46 meaning they use the same band for all sticks in that size range. So the smaller sizing (Sig 2's are 42RG I think) will lead to more overlap.

My recommendation is assume they're real and ENJOY! Hope this helps.

Tubos like that are not really counterfitted much as far as I know. Tubos are harder to produce for counterfitters and therefore are rarely counterfitted. The counterfeit market depends on a low overhead and because of the difficulty in producing small quantities of tubos, especially of the newer friction type that the OP has, the packaging type alone(the fact that these are cigars in tubos) makes it highly unlikely that they are fake.

It's relatively easy to make fake bands and fake seals. Boxes are also relatively easy to make as well. However, to make fake tubos, the counterfitter would need to have a manufacturing factory to make the tubes themselves and also equipment to properly paint the tubes. Not worth it when their market is tourists. Case in point, the famous fake glass top Cuban boxes. Counterfitters want the cigars to be displayed, not hidden in tubos. More cost, smaller market.

As "bad" as some think the Cremas are I've had much worse in an NC that cost 10 times as much. I enjoy them when I get one that doesn't have draw issues, say every third cigar. But yeah, no one is going to counterfeit a cigar that costs $1.50.

Thanks for the feedback brothers! The fiancee came home from work just now (first day back from her 10 day vacation) and somehow managed to get a major promotion. Looks like I have a reason to light one up!
