You guys who didn't show up don't know what you missed. That was my first, but certainly not last, NERF and I had a rockin' good time. There were well over 100 guys at Churchill's. As soon as I walked in, someone pointed me to the registration desk where they handed me a hat and a couple bags full of smokes.
I chatted with a lot of people and met a few I'd known only online. There may have been other BOTLs there that I didn't notice, but the only one I spoke with was archeology22. I enjoyed a few drinks and three cigars, well above my daily average.
It seemed like they were handing out door prizes for an hour. I won a massive ashtray and a gift certificate. They were also passing out lots of great cigars including full boxes of CCs, accessories, coffee, and bottles of Bombay and Grey Goose. I believe pretty much everyone won a door prize and/or an auction. Some guys really cleaned up.
There was a really nice atmosphere of camraderie and generosity. I was particularly impressed by Doug who, after winning a box of Cohiba Siglos, immediately gave them back to be put up for auction and then bid on them himself to drive up the price. Word is that more than $3800 was raised for
Wednesday's Child. The box of smokes for the troops was also chock full.
MadAl should be posting pics soon. I'm already looking forward to NERF 2009...
