BoM August 2010/2011
I had been able to have a couple of puffs off of one of these cigars last summer. I was told in advance that this cigar would be coming, and that I had to smoke it for my birthday. Well, a delay in shipping prevented that from happening. So I promised a great friend and BOTL (who incidentally hAs A biRthday cOming up this moNth....should I say who or when???) that it would be my first cigar of the New Year.
A very well constructed cigar. Firm, but not too hard...no soft spots. The wrapper is slightly oily, with minimal veins, and a well formed cap at the point of the head. With a clip of my Palio, the pre-light has a sweet, yet lightly spicy flavor. Upon lighting, the CMR offers a bready flavor, with a complex mix of cinnamon and nutmeg, with bits of honey and caramel.
The burn moves into the second third, with a razor straight line. The ash fairly light gray in color. The cigar maintains a bready base flavor, with caramel and a little bit of cinnamon and wood.
Before moving to the final third, I just wanted to show that the ash was holding pretty tight at the halfway point.
The ash fell before I could get a pic of the start of the final third. The burn maintains a near perfect straight line. The cigar now has a main wood (a little cedar) flavor, with cashew and some spice on the back end.
This was a tremendous cigar...what a perfect way to celebrate 90 minutes of the New Year!
