Finally got my box of Noellas today from Nice Ash, and man do some of them look rough! Are they normally rather rustic?

There is one with a torn wrapper where the tear is parallel to the band that looks like they couldnt get the band on right.

As long as they taste good though..... :smokingbo

That's definitely out of the ordinary - the construction of all Pepin's sticks are impeccable, even the cheapest of the bunch. I witnessed someone open a box of Cabaiguan Guapo OR's at a odd B&M this summer only to discover that due to the storage of them, most of the wrappers in the box were broken or torn. What a shame - and I'm glad I had the proprietor open them before I bought them. Which, honestly is something I almost never do....

Talk with Nice Ash if it's that bad. The Noella's are absolutely delicious - I do hope you enjoy them (sooner or later)!

Thats what I thought... Ive had a few Noella singles before that were beautiful. Some are good, some are... wow. I'll snap some photos later tonight. Box is from July 09, so they are rather fresh!

I got a bag not a box of singles even though I ordered a box. They are fresh but are wonderful already. Not 1 bad one in the batch. Sorry to hear it get ahold of them if there are a bunch of bad ones. Sale or not they need to be right when you get them.

Thats an interesting way for them to come....

Theres mot a bunch... just a few, but I was surprised because the boxes of Cabaiguans ive gotten have been impeccable. I think I may have been more surprised by how veiny the wrappers are more than anything, and how a few of the bands were applied.

Attached pics of the offender... there are one or two with small holes in the wrapper, nothing horrible though.

I'd be a little upset about it if it were me. Just sucks to see that when you were expecting the kind of quality that Pepin and Pete are known for.

I got a box of Cab Guapos OR where 1/2 of them were totally destroyed (probably a humidity problem during storage somewhere along the line). I posted a thread with pictures here when it happened. It was very sad. The shop said "sorry" and I was SOL.

That is BS! The shop should have taken them back and they should have been sent back to Pete! I have seen that done by others in the past, I guess as long as there is no question that it didn't happen in your possession...

The band in that picture looks as if it had been reapplied, as I do not ever remember seeing that type of overlap with Pete's cigars.

Maybe some better pics of all of the cigars would help here?

I have had one of these that shuckins sent me. The construction was perfect the band was cleanly glued on. The ones you got could be cheap cigars with Noella bands on them. I know that perdomo makes some similar tasting sticks that are far cheaper. I am not an expert on identifying fakes but just saying it is possible.

What Perdomo tastes similar to a Noella? I'd like to know, I tend to like Perdomos in general.

Not to add fuel to the fire, but send the pics to the man himself (Pete). He will let you know...just ask him his thoughts and if he has seen it before. Might be a quality issue that he would like to know about or something along the shipping line....just my .02.

And I may have missed this...but did you call NA...I am shocked if they would not help you out.

From what I've heard Nice Ash is a reputable supplier unless they got scammed, which I doubt. Looks like a simple QC issue.

Don't know if I'd go that far but they are damn good, especially considering the price. Perdomo Fresh Rolled, you can get them in a wheel of 50 for like a little more than 2 bucks each. Don't know where Shuckins picked up that vitola though, I've only seen them in a 50 or 52 ring.

The box was sealed, not shrink wrapped though. Not sure if the browns are normally shrink wrapped as this is the first box ive bought.

There are a few of them with the bad band application.

I'll take a pic of all of them in the a.m., dont have the nice camera with me at the moment. I shot Nice Ash an email, we'll see what they say. I normally dont have much time in the day between grad school and work.

The Perdomo's are fresh rolled, and the smallest is a robusto. They taste like a Tat red instead of a brown. I had a fresh rolled, later in the day a red Nobles, and I was astounded how similar they were.

Those look okay - that one is definitely 'off', I'd smoke that one first. Doesn't seem to be enough 'wrong' with them to send back. Every box you buy will have one or two bum sticks either due to construction or draw. Tat's are the only one that are consistantly excluded from that rule because the quality is in fact, better than most.

So do they taste good??
