Wouldn't you like to know?
Now my thoughts on this are brought up by the fact that I saw my very first Round Famosos last week. I have always had a bit of a tendancy towards round cigars but now find myself reaching for them more and more. I have really been digging a lot of the tubo selections and even the cardboard packs of 5 and 3. Not sure that it really makes a differnece but I am liking box pressed cigars less and less. Any one else agree?

Just curious A because of construction issues or something else?
Edit:

I actually had a round Famoso last week and thought it was great, maybe its the tobacco?? I have never really payed attention to the press of the cigars as I dont think my palete is developed enough for the subtle nuances yet. I am just enjoying the sticks from a lot of places right now as I smoke more and more. :)

It really dosen't make a big difference to me. But if I had a choice? And both were equal in everyway. I'd go with round cigars over box pressed.

I could care less either way if a cigar is box pressed or round. As long as it tastes good, I'll smoke it.

Interestingly enough, the Germans are wierd about box pressed cigars. If you give them a choice, most will smoke a round cigar. They are very hesitant to try a box pressed. Kinda wierd really.

I prefer my cigars out of a cab or SLB so I prefer round. If pressed cigars came in packed like that I would prefer those. So I guess for me its all about the packaging and not the cigar shape.

I had one not to long ago & thought it was fantastic! I definitely prefer the round to pressed in this stick - but as long as the burn & draw are okay, it really doesn't make much difference in general.

For me, it just depends on the cigar. Some blends are better box pressed versus round. I think box pressed cigars are a bit gimmicky to be honest. They are usually under filled compared to their round variants.

NOOB ? What is the difference other than the shape?
Great question! Shape effects burn, which in turn effects flavor (and body to a lesser extent). The most important thing for flavor is the rate of combustion of the cigar, and whatever effects that (ring gauge, shape, a draw that's too tight or too loose) will change the flavor. Assuming both sticks are well made and burn well, then the distinctions between boxpress and cabinet (round) will be a matter of taste.

I also think it's interesting that not all dress box cigar are boxpressed (the R&J Short Churchill come to mind).

I, for one, would love to try some round Bolivar Royal Coronas to see how they compare. And while I'm at it, I'd be up for some round Padron 45ths too :)
