What's your take? For example: the regular pressed La Riqueza versus the Cabinet Selection that is round, or the CAO Cuban Press (or box press, whatever) vs regular, or the Noella pressed or not? I'd love to hear people opinions on flavor differences, if any, burn or constuction differences, etc.

I've seen a certain BOTL'er mention a couple times their preference for the Ricky Cab, so I thought I'd ask around....

I like box pressed. I just feel like they always have a better draw and the end that is burning is always opening up. Plus it just sits on your lips better, it more mimics the shape of the mouth.

To me I've never really noticed that much of a difference. One of the best examples I can think of is the PA 26 80th Anni Perfectos. They are not box-pressed like all the others. The Maduro was not that great while the Natural was phenomenal. So, based on that, I don't think it matters that much.

So the real question is why are some box-pressed and others are not? Is it just a preference thing?

The only other thing I can think of is to provide more room for slower burning tobacco to combust...

I like both....I feel like I can taste a difference between the two La Ricky's....both great but a little different taste....rounder may be a little "richer" to me.

I also like the "feel" of the box-pressed in my hand.

I like both and can't really see where the bp changes the flavor much. I'd have to see two boxes that were back to back in the production flow, one pressed and one not, and taste a difference to believe it.

Lately the petite robusto La Riqueza has been one of my favorites, but I don't think it has to do with the round shape, they are just kick ass smokes in a perfect size!
