I really like the short churchill, wide church, and the duke. I've only had one of each and even though I really, really enjoyed them I found myself getting pissed over the constant burn issues and loose ash. Seemed like I had to be sitting over the ashtray with the cigar in one hand and the lighter in the other. Are all of the RyJ's like this? It won't stop me from trying to get more but I wasn't sure if it's the cigar's MO or maybe my storage method which is always 65.
So what gives???

I smoke a lot of R&J's, other than the occasional issue as with all Cuban cigars, have not found them to be a problem. Are these cigars new arrivals, 30 days or less? I find new arrivals benefit from a bit of "rest". I keep my humidors at 62% or less. I prefer a lower humidity. With a wrapper that won't stay lit, and falling ash, humidity issues would be my first guess as a wrapper will absorb higher RH quicker than the filler.

The cigars still sound wet. I give them at least 30 days at around 62-65% humidity. If you got to smoke then ROTT try dry boxing for 48 to 72 hours, that might help with the burn issue.

I will try the DB method for a day or two with these. I had them in with my others for awhile though and I have not had any burn issues with the other brands, near the magnitude with these RyJ's...Hence my asking.

Generally have not had this issue. I have not been back to the Short Church in a while as the last 2 10 count boxes I got were not good. I have heard current production is pretty good. I keep almost buying them. Maybe its time.

Also for me if you have not had the Cazadore and the Belicoso I think you are doing yourself an injustice. This two sticks from the same line are worlds apart on flavor profile.

It sounds like you are runnig to wet, I would recommened letting them rest 2-3 weeks before lighting them up.

I have found that the SC and the Churchill present the nicest, tight white ash of any current production Habanos.

It does sound like it may be a humidity issue.

Cheers
