I saw a few threads on this cigar, but mostly reviews from several years back..and then just one general inquiry.

I'm curious as to peoples thoughts on this oft-overlooked (at least as far as I can tell) cigar. I've smoked one La Punta, and it's been a while back now...but do recall the vanilla/nut profile, which is one I love...along w/ it being a very smooth smoke, and not at all in your face. Medium bodied at most, yet w/ nice flavor.

Is this consistent throughout the entire line? More pronounced in the La Punta perhaps?

Anyway, just thought some general discussion on this cigar would be interesting...so feel free to share opinions if you have em', good, bad, or indifferent.

Great, highly underrated cigar IMHO.

Like you said....medium strength, with a good amount of complexity.

Excellent craftsmanship/burning qualities. The La Punta is my fav...I have a box from '99 that is smoking very well right now. The La Fuerza is also good, but not nearly as good complex and full as the La Punta.

Not sure how the current production is smoking, but this is one of my fav cc's. :)

Love the El Principe. These cigars don't get mentioned often, but in my opinion they are right up near the top in terms of quality.

The El Principe size seems to favor this combination of flavors.
Some of the larger SCDH have been underwhelming.

I have an '06 box of Mercaderes. They are complex, chocolate, vanilla and creamy at points. But they would not be my first choice. . .

The Officios always intrigued me but I have never been able to sample them without committing to a purchase. At this rate I have a lot more on my wishlist ahead of these, but they don't seem to be bad, just not great.

IMHO, the El Principe is the best bang for the buck. Most of the others have firm draws which takes away from the experience. When you have one that draws well, it is heaven.

Definitely under-appreciated. But let's not tell anyone and leave more for us :).
Don A, have you tried La Murala? Big, yet a very fine representation of the line. Love the Principes, Mercs and Puntas. The Morros taste good as well but have had more plugging issues i my experience.
Very pleasant scent that many non-smokers seem to find tolerable if not pleasant. These, along with Padron Annys, HdM cc's and some of the only smokes I can have in the car with my wife.

Just finished an el principe. These are my fav's of the line.
Can't believe the price on a box of these. A box of these or a box of BOTL small batch? Damn, I need humidor space!

I love the El Principe. It's a flavorful smoke when you don't have much time. Great value.

Just saw this thread. My favorite is the Oficios followed by the Principe. It's a change it up cigar. Different profile than any other Havana, IMO.

I have never smoked one, but have a single El Principe in my humidor, and I was sort of bummed when I got it... a fair amount of green in the wrapper. Going to give it a LOT of time to make up for that before I burn it I think. This is definitely a brand that has always interested me, largely due to the lack of discussion about them.
