About a year ago I bought a box of San Cristobal Monumento. They were not good then. They are only marginally better now.

They were in great shape when delivered and look great now. I've had many of these in the past and they were all good. WTH?

What do you think? Ever had this happen? Will more age do the trick or am I stuck with a box of very expensive dog rockets?

Humidity could be an issue?

I've got stacks of empties...the SC is one of my personal favorites...had ONE cigar with a "tree trunk" out of all the boxes I smoked.

Possible. I really prefer my stuff around 60-65%. Better burn, not as wet. I've smoked a few of these and have had no problems at all. Enjoyed each of 'em.

San Cristobal Monumento is one of my top 5 fav regular production cigars, particularly in summertime. I have rarely had a bad one so I am puzzled by your box. What specifically is wrong with them? Lacking flavor? Are others smokes tasting fine to your right now?

I split a box of Papagayos with a buddy a year ago now, and they're still smoking fantastic. Definitely in my top 5. They just keep getting better and better with age.

Have you tried dry boxing one for 48 hours? It might help but it sounds like you got an off box.

They just taste bad. Harsh. Nothing like a SC usually tastes. They are in their own box, so that should be ok? Odd. I'm gonna dry one out a bit this weekend and see if that helps.

Really sucks cause these are expensive!

Dry boxed one for two days. Smoked great. Tasted amazing. Thanks for the tip, it did the trick. Now I can see that these are aging beautifully.
