Every morning for the past couple weeks I've gotten stuck behind the same wretched school bus and it's really beginning to piss me off. For the last 6 miles of my commute it travels 35 to 40 mph on a 55 mph road and of course stops frequently to pick up kidlets. It's made me late every day.
I've tried leaving a few minutes earlier but as luck would have it, I happen to pass a road leading to a school just before that last 6 miles. They've got a guy out there directing traffic so parents don't have to wait for cars to pass to get out on the highway after dropping off their kids. As soon as he sees a car coming from the school he stops traffic to let them out. On average I come to a complete stop 3-4 times trying to get past that intersection. And then I see it.........up ahead.......... the bus is pulling out of a side road in front of me. Aaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh!
What really gets me is when I crawl for miles behind the bus and every time it stops for kids whose parents wait in the car at the end of the driveway the bus driver let's them out in front of the bus. WTF?! I'm held up because of their kids and they get wide open road in front of the bus? That's just wrong.

<<Rant off>>

Well, I can't really complain about my commute. It's less than 14 miles and only one traffic light. I just need to leave the house 10 minutes earlier and I'll be fine. I've cooled down now but I was steaming this morning. Could you tell?

I know the feeling. WELL. There are at least three different buses that service my community and on top of that I have to pass a damn grade school on one of the two major roads I take. And I swear, I don't know what all those damn buses are doing out there, because half the F'ing school gets dropped off by their parents who are driving the opposite way I am and have to make a u-turn in front of the school across two lanes of traffic to get there. And every Tom, DICK and Harriet in front of me has to let every other damn car in. Then, of course, where I turn onto the road I work at, there is a school located directly across the intersection, so I have to deal with all the traffic there as well. Hate it. It almost doubles my drive time compared to when school is out.

I have a solution. Do like Costanza does at his office. Sleep under your desk. According to him it is very comfortable and it solves the problem of your irritating commute. Just keep a toiletry kit there...I mean they have sinks and such...and go with the bed head look.

Well for Heaven Sake!...pull in front of the bus, screech to a halt, and demand that the bus driver exceed the speed limit on a vehicle that has no seat belts so you can get to work sooner! Screw their safety!!!

Now Brian, perhaps they are going lower than speed limit for the reason I mentioned along while trying to control the semi chotic actions contained on the yellow vessel.

We'll agree to disagree on this one.

I get just as frustrated as the next guy when I get behind a bus but it helps when I think about the 45 young people that the bus driver is solely responsible for.

Nothing really to disagree about. I certainly wouldn't want to put childrens health and wellbeing at risk. It was just a rant due to the frequency of the delays lately compounded by the special treatment the parents appeared to have been getting. I was just letting off some steam.
