Hello All,

After some light reading throughout your forums, I think I've found a great wealth of knowledge here. I've been lurking for awhile, but figured it was time to make my first post. I am 32 and have been very casually enjoying a variety of cigars over the past 10 or so years. I have found many cigars that I don't like, and some that were good. It took me awhile to realize that I really did not really care for the light to medium bodied and mild cigars that most people seem to point newbies to. Only recently have I finally stumbled across a cigar I love enough to buy again and again. I am hoping I may find some other great suggestions here as variety is certainly something I love, and hope to more accurately stumble across something that I may enjoy even more.

My current favorite is the Padron 3000 Maduro. I typically buy all of my cigars from the local tobbaconist a day or two before smoking to eliminate humidification issues as a variable. I find I enjoy a nice full bodied cigar but it has to be flavorful rather than harsh. I enjoy the easier draw i've discovered in this cigar that i cant say i've found consistently elsewhere. I prefer the slight sweetness of the oily Maduro wrapper and find that i do enjoy my cigars a with a richer, sweeter flavor.

Would you guys mind offering some suggestions on other tasty smokes to try that are along the same lines of the things i love about this cigar? Id be willing to spend up to around $10 a stick to give something a try if its worth it. I will soon be putting together a tupperdor now that i've found something I will smoke more consistently and can better buy in larger quantities. Thank you for the great guides on this, and Thank You in advance for your suggestions!

-Steve-

There are a lot of tatuaje that are 9-10 dollar smokes that fit this discription. Some crowned heads fit that discription. Casa turrent fits that discription. Flor de gonsalaz check spelling lol. La mission fits as well. Try them let me kmow what you think

With so much that I haven't tried.. I tend to check out the "smoke of the day" thread for suggestions.. If they didn't leave any taste notes on something that looks good.. ask, they'll usually give the lowdown..

If you like the 3000, you should try a Padron 1964 Anniversary. Right around that price range you mentioned. Great smoke, full bodied, nice easy draw. Man I think I'll have one now :)

Casa Turrent and Crowned Heads Jericho Hill and the new Le Carema are right up that smooth, flavorful, rich flavor profile you mentioned. Also, they have a light box-press which in my experience tends to have a bit more of an open, easy draw. YMMV.

One tip: do not buy in quantity right now. Buy fivers at a time and smoke through them. Your palate will change over the next year or two, and you may find even while smoking your way through some fiver, that the cigar you loved with the first one is no longer that appealing by the fifth. You might also find over time that you no longer want the dark, earthy maduros but prefer the medium leather and spice profile. I'm not saying that will happen, just that it does happen to lots of folks. I was like you when I started, I loved the full-bodied dark, earthy, chocolaty maduros, and actually hated ecuadorian habano wrappers. But 7 years in the tables have turned! So start small, let your palate guide you over time, and wait to stock up until you've been at it a while!

I had the same experience. At first loved the super heavy, dark Maduro (if I could afford it, I would have bought a box of Anjeos)... Good thing I didn't, because although I still love a good Anjeo or a Liga Privada No. 9, I tend to appreciate body and texture more these days and seem to have taken a liking to more medium sticks.
I think this may happen as your taste gets more refined.
But it's important to smoke what you like now, so to answer the first question, here are some I like that may be up your alley now (full body) :
Illuisone Rothchilds, LFD LA Nox, My Father Le Bijou 1922, Oliva V Melanio.

Rich sweet full bodied maduros... Sounds like we have similar tastes. I'd try Tatuaje Fausto, RomaCraft cromagnon, CH Jericho Hill. Also check out 601 Blue Label and Cain cigars on the cheap at cigarmonster

You like the Padron 3000 Maduro, try the Padron 7000 Maduro. Still under $10.00 and still one of my favorites.
Or a Fuente Canones Maduro big stick n under $10.00, enjoy.
