I actually have it pretty lucky...if I'm only kinda sick, I can work from home (assuming I prepared for it and took the work home the night before). If I work from home, even if it's only for a few hours, I don't have to use up any personal/sick time. That's pretty cool IMHO.

We have an "open" sick policy. Take as many days as you want whenever you want, just don't abuse it.
We had this employee that was proud that they had never taken a sick day.
He thought he was saving the company money, but he probably cost us a lot by making everybody else sick. People that were a lot more important than him.

Normally not an issue for me since I can hook up to all our servers from my house. Plus we use India so much nowadays most of our data is on the internet.

We have an understood rule at work. If you are sick, STAY HOME cause if you come in and get others sick you will be on everyones S**t list.
