Today I smoked a LG Small Batch 3, thanks Bobby!. It was very good and I think with time may turn excellent to exceptional, just sayin'.

But to the point, has anyone else smoked this one yet and if you have did it strike you quite identical to the SB 2, just younger? I felt the first release and the second had enough differences in flavor to feel they were not just another "release in the series" but enough difference to merit a preference of one instead of the other.

I have one sitting. It's probably the best looking cigar I've ever seen. The wrapper is SICK! I didn't get a chance to smoke the first two so I can't help with your question. Interested in hearing responses...

Miles to go before I sleep ...
I smoked (and reviewed) one of these just a few weeks back and I'm tempted to smoke another today. :)

I haven't smoked either of the previous small batches so I can't speak to how the SB3 compares to the SB2 (or 1 for that matter), but I do know that I LOVE this cigar even right now! With some age I agree that it could be an absolutely phenominal cigar ... but it's still pretty stinking good right now too.

Yep. I've had one & have one aging. I've also had 1&2. All were excellent cigars. But as you mention, it's a lot like the last release.

Like Nate mentioned, I really love the SBN3, I personally felt it was the best of the SB's so far. Definately glad I smoked it after a nice meal!

Is it the same blend as the other cigars in the series? I don't care for the size.

The cubano 4.75"x50 seems excellent though.
When I bought my latest LGSB3 I compared the LGSB3 to the Diez Chisel and the wrappers looked completely different. I asked the humidor manager and he said that the wrappers were indeed different.

Time for me to do a little more investigating!

As I know it right now w/o any research. The main difference is in the wrapper instead of the regular LG line wrapper which is Dominican as they are puro's, the SB line has instead a Sumatra seed wrapper also grown in the Dominican.

Doesn't really matter that the wrapper is Sumatra if it's grown in the DR. If all the tobacco is grown in the DR (no matter what kind of seed), it's a DR puro.

Here is what Serious says about the Small Batch:

Color: Natural Size: 6 3/4" x 52
This is a Dominican Puro from La Flor Dominicana. Litto is releasing these beauties in early September. Add them to your wish list and you will get first crack at them. The tobacco is from the 2004 crop at La Canela, La Flor's farm.

Sumatra seed... if you grow sumatra seed or cuban seed criollo/corojo in the Dominican Rebublic and make a cigar that's entirely made from tobacco in the DR, it's a DR puro. Just like what it says in the description of the cigar above from Serious Cigars. The wrapper is a Sumatra seed grown in the DR... all the tobacco in the Small Batch is grown in the DR on the La Canela farm making it a DR puro.

Just effort to clear some things up.

Agreed, the SB LG series are puros just as the regular LG's are.

But the different seed wrapper does make a difference not only in make up(though still a puro); and I think to the point of Justin's "what" also flavor.

Hopefully strictly helpful.

:blush:If I can politely continue the thread, has anyone else smoked this one yet and if you have, did it strike you quite identical to the SB 2, just younger?

LG Small Batch uses a oscuro sumatra wrapper. The blend is different from a standard LG but only Litto could tell you the exact blend and somehow I don't think he is letting that info out. The tobacco in the Small Batch is the best of the best of what his farm produces and is aged for 5 years before making the cigars. I got this from the horse's mouth so I hope it helps.
