Coolhand
Resident River Rat
Having been out of town, I had more than enough time to season it.
I purchased one of Mark's (from Cigarmony) "The Vault" humidors, with 16 oz. of RH Beads. Put two small bowls of distilled water inside and left it alone for about 11 days while I was out of town.
It now has two four-ounce bags of beads keeping it right at 64% RH (they're 65% beads). This is OK by me, really, since my old humi was spewing humidity into the atmosphere like a spy satellite with a full tank of gas. I'm hoping once the cigars (which were probably a little dry) even out, that it'll level out (the hygro's been calibrated, so it should be spot-on).
The cigars are definitely in better condition now - had my first smoke out of it (a Fuente) and you can definitely discern the difference. I just gotta get to filling it, I took quite the step up in storage space!:bouncetau
