I'm buying a new 360 an was wondering what is the difference with the live memberships ex. gold, elite, silver?

want to know before i just grab a random one?

Price and I'm guessing available content. I have the gold, I guess its the best one. I love my 360 anf live live even more.

If you want to play online, I think you need gold.

Silver is free and can only be used to DL demos and crap from the marketplace and use the messenger. Gold is needed to play online.

Wasn't elite a failed credit card type thing? or some sort of rewards card. But to echo the rest of the group, Gold is what you need. Silver comes with it for free.
