Hey hey, just leapt into this hobby head first! I've smoked cigarettes for decades and thought I hated cigars, a judgment I'm sure I made trying a swisher sweet or something equally contemptible in college. I realized I've been living half a life after I bought a half a box of (don't laugh) Cusano M1s with the intention of giving them away at an event.
Of course I totally forgot about them for like three months until I was outta smokes one night. "SAY, that's not just a fix, that's...that's something else!" The first truly inspiring one of the little pile of premiums that followed was the Crowned Heads Mason Dixon North 2014. A few more little piles and I was very lucky to discover that it's apparently possible to roll a quality stick YOURSELF for a fraction of the cost. Here's me smoking and, by God, enjoying my very first attempt just today - a wrapperless Nicaraguan puro with seco, ligero, and binder from Leaf Only.
Not super interesting, but incredibly rewarding! And a relief after the unfamiliar vegetal (?) aroma and, more alarming, wave of ammonia that hit me when I opened the bags. You know what was VERY interesting? When I opened the quarter pound of CT 1DW Maduro broadleaf (if you're familiar with the Mason Dixon, you can see what I was trying to do here). THAT'S what I was expecting to smell! The clincher, of course, was when I slapped some of that on another puro. Holy SMOKE.
I'm still very excited about receiving my last order of "real" cigars but...holy SMOKE. Did I say "last order"? I'm sure I meant "most recent". Maybe
