Is there a possibility the hydrometer is incorrect? Opening and closing the humi a lot can cause cracking, and if your humi is overfilled it may not be properly humidifying all the cigars.

I started keeping my cigars at 65% and that seemed to fix most of my splitting issues. Might do what others suggest and check your hygrometer and switch to beads.

72 is a bit high, most of the consensus is 60-70% pretty good chance that a sharp change in humidity can cause cracks like you are describing.

Some digitals can be calibrated some cannot.
I would think it might be a little over humidified however could be smoking conditions also. Are all the sticks that are splitting different brands?

Mainly my Oliva O right below the ring.

I am going to borrow a hygrometer from work and see what it reads.
If you are using beads you should be fine as long as the beads to cigar ratio is adequate.

A 4oz jar of beads handles humidors that hold 25 to 150 cigars. You must add water when low (every 1 to 2 months) . I imagine you all ready know this.
