Not sure if many know about this website but if you haven't you should go on there and protect your privacy as this site gathers as much information as they can from other sites. You can check your own info on their by doing a SEARCH of your own name and others as it lists:

Your Email Address
Your Phone Number
Members of your Household
Age
Property and where you live
Property Value

What happens is that scammers patrol this site and get ideas of who lives there esp. single women and that is something that can be a potential threat. We opted to have our name removed from this service a few years ago.

A word to the wise.

Nothing the phone book couldn't have supplied in my case. The info about my family was wrong and the years that I've resided as well. I have nothing to hide so screw 'em.

Thanks for the info. My profile was up to date and very accurate. I mean scary accurate. I had mine and my wife's removed.

it is only on this site, and he public part

"You can also remove your Spokeo listing from public searches for free. Please note that removing your Spokeo listing from public searches does not remove your information from the third-party data sources. Your information will still be shown on other people search sites, and you will need to contact those third-party sites one-by-one, or use ReputationDefender to protect your online identity. "

Looks like just a way to sale their services.

there's a bunch of these sites out there. yatedo.com is another. you need to find the root of where this info is being gathered from. check your profile privacy settings in facebook, myspace, yahoo, google, etc. and it will help these websites from gathering / storing your "personal" info.

These sites are a combination of public record data (your house values, phone books), information they get from crawling the web and estimated/modeled information (income for example). So if you don't want your stuff out there, don't post it anywhere. It's not like they employ PI's to find you and your information.

I work in the information services industry and you'd be surprised at what's available and a lot of times, you've given it up willingly. Think about product registration forms youve filled out on that new tv or surveys you've taken. Guess where that goes?

Looked up my Dad's info, then I looked up my info. It still had me listed as living at home (haven't lived there in 8yrs) and it said my home valued at almost 60k more than my Dad's (same house). So I guess the one bright side is that their stats are a rough estimate.
