Stationary smoke better than the actual smoke?

Tonight I had a La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte. It was damn near a NUB, like 60 something RG and maybe 4 1/2 inches. Tasted just ok to me. Good not great. But anyway, The stationary smoke/resting smoke smelled great! I have never had a cigar that I thought the stationary smoke smelled so good. It was almost like a clove cigarette. Very full of spice and aromatic. None of that came through in the smoke. Know what I mean? This ever happen to you?

Wow, that's kinda weird. I've never had an experience like that, the most stationary smoke usually does to me is blow into my eyes and piss me off. It must have been frustrating to have to smell how good it was and then not taste it on the draw tho!

We had a neighborhood firepit the other night and I gave one of my strads to someone to smoke. I was sitting downwind from him and I swear it smelled better than if I was smoking it.

Yeah, I've had a number of cigars like this. Not that I didn't enjoy the cigar, but the aroma of the smoke just smelled so good/different than what I was getting from the cigar.

PSDn4 has amazing ambient smoke. It's rare, but every once in a while, a cigar just has an amazing atmospheric element to the ambient smoke that just makes everything perfect in the world, even when you aren't drawing on it.

I've had that happen to me alot while sitting at my local B&M smoking. Somebody comes in smoking a stick and sits down and I get this wonderful smell. I ask them what they are smoking and than I say to myself, "Damn I don't remember that cigar smelling that good when I was smoking it!" :dunno:
