Dam that is a bummer, I liked watching his shows. I figured one of those snakes would get him one day, not a stingray

What a way to go. All the times he was facing danger and knew it, then to be swimming along minding your own business and get stung and die! yikes...

Well, "minding your own business" probably doesn't really cover it (not being an ass, just saying). They were filming a piece called "Oceans Deadliest" or some such and he swam too close above the ray. Spine flexed up and caught him JUST right through the rib cage and punctured the heart. Freakishly unlucky. But when you put your self in those kinds of positions over and over...I guess it was bound to happen at some point. May he RIP and I feel for his family.

Me and my family will miss this bloke. Steve was always entertaining and full of information at the same time. My daughter who is 8 has lost probably the first person that hurt her. I hope his family, friends, and the Aussie zoo carry on.

My family was also shocked by this freak accident. He was a genuine and one of a kind person. An entertainer, teacher, explorer, naturalist and daredevil all rolled together. I'm sure his loss will be felt by millions.

A man full of life in the wrong place at the wrong time. Totally bizzare. I'll miss the guy.
