Researchers found drivers who had used marijuana within three hours of beginning to drive had nearly double the risk of causing a collision, especially those that were fatal.
So all those pot proponents that claim pot has never caused a fatality are wrong? :scratchhe

Makes sense to me! I'm not casting a stone, because a younger, & (IMO) more ignorant me used to partake of the ganja.:smokingbo But... I can say with a fair degree of certainty that it absolutely affected my driving. Like I said... Not knocking you if you do, but let's use some common sense when treating your glaucoma.

"Experts at Dalhousie University"?.

the Nixon Marijuana Commission concluded that there is no conclusive evidence that cannabis impairs driving. This was in part based on studies by Crancer et.al. for the Washington State Highway Department, a similar study done at UCLA, and another at Boston University. Crancer found that, "Simulated driving scores for subjects experiencing a normal social 'high' and the same subjects under control conditions are not significantly different

A 1983 study by the US National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) concluded that the only significant affect of cannabis use was slower driving - arguably a positive effect of driving high.

A comprehensive 1992 NHTSA study revealed that pot is rarely involved in driving accidents, except when combined with alcohol. The study concluded that "the THC-only drivers had an [accident] responsibility rate below that of the drug free drivers." This study was buried for six years and not released until 1998

A massive 1998 study by the University of Adelaide and Transport South Australia examined blood samples from drivers involved in 2,500 accidents. It found that drivers with only cannabis in their systems were slightly less likely to cause accidents than those without. Drivers with both marijuana and alcohol did have a high accident responsibility rate. The report concluded, "there was no indication that marijuana by itself was a cause of fatal accidents

In Canada, a 1999 University of Toronto meta-analysis of studies into pot and driving showed that drivers who consumed a moderate amount of pot typically refrained from passing cars and drove at a more consistent speed. The analysis also confirmed that marijuana taken alone does not increase a driver's risk of causing an accident.

I don't even know where to begin with this study. Well actually I do...I do not smoke pot. But I have dabbled in it a lonnnnggggg time ago. Think that this is a shock and awe article. Pretty plain jane stats with very little meat. The biggest flaw is that they don't list age. Over 50 percent of pot smokers are under age of 25...they are already accident prone without drugs.

Feels like propaganda to me. 80 percent of all traffic accidents still come from food or drink distractions...yet a drive thru will never be blammed. Just a short version of my .02 due to being on phone

I think I would concur with the American, Canadian and Australian studies. If my memory serves me, pot smokers had more burnt fingers than car wrecks.

I seem to remember a young man who swore up and down that he was a better driver on pot than otherwise impaired......

I.....I mean HE claimed that since he could drive 55 and feel like he was going 80, he was more likely to obey the speed limit and still have fun doing it.

What a fool......lol

I've been loving my ganja for over 40 years. I smoke the good stuff & it makes me HIGH. No way would I want to drive like that. Play guitar, yes, but no driving.
