I go to a lot of concerts. I usually take a water bottle with a few shots of tequila with me to warm up. I also keep distilled water in a water bottle for the small humi in my barn where I usually smoke. I refilled the the humi a few days ago. Tonight, I looked at the table and saw my tequila water bottle but not the distilled bottle. After a brief search I found the distilled water bottle on the floor. I thought hmmmmm. Opened up my humi and sniffed the humidifier.......tequila.

haha, interesting idea. I'm curious as to the taste too. I have a meat smoker and have experimented with adding a few shots of whiskey to the water pan sometimes. Maybe you just "discovered" something.

I bet it won’t hurt the cigars that much, although alcohol does evaporate faster than water. Let us know.

Speaking of humidor mistakes.

I gave my neighbor some heartfelt beads for his humidor, because I noticed he was using an old credo that was all corroded. Well this was 5-6 months ago. I went over last night to have a smoke and he said he had only 1 cigar left in his humidor and asked me if it felt too wet. Knowing he was using beads, I figured it would be fine. He handed me a Padilla Obsidian that was so moist I could have squeezed several drops of water out of it with little effort. I went to his humi and found a tragedy. I wish I had pictures. He had about 15 of his wifes smokes in there, some dutch panatela machine made crap that were so moist they would bend under their own weight. Also they were covered in white mold. I picked up his humidor and walked over to his kitchen trash and proceded to empty the contents into the trash. I then told him to take his next CI sampler and just put it in a ziplock until I managed to dry out his humidor and clean it enough to again store cigars in it. I am not sure I can guarantee all the mold spores are out of it, but I can get the RH back it should help keep the mold at bay. I tossed his credo, his get crystals, his analog hygro, and every bit of cedar scrap he had added to his humidor.

He did not understand how to recharge the beads, and literally held them under the faucet and then placed a soaking wet bag of beads back in the humidor on top of a paper thin pieces of cedar. There are water stains on the interior of the humi, and the wood is moist all the way to the bottom. I am hoping it did not warp so bad that it can’t be fixed, but only time will tell that. Our RH outside right now is about 80% so I don’t expect it to dry very quickly. I did fill it with silica kitty litter to help soak the water out. He buys a CI 20 stick sampler once every month or so and smoke thru them and then buys another. He does not want to store or age cigars so I do not think he’ll need much more than this for storage. I wish he had just joined the site 2 years ago when I told him to, he could have avoided all of this.

Had a couple of short stories and a couple of La Traviatas all in cello in there. No big taste change in the one shorty I smoked. I'll have to try an anejo next time.
