Hello.
I have a quick question:

I just bought a box of the Tatuaje Anarchy's and I am excited to get 'em. Do you recommend aging them and leaving them be or just opening the box to smoke, share, trade, etc. I have never had one and I am a newbie as well so any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

after they arrive they should rest so they can settle the cigars get stressed when constantly being moved around i would let them sit in a humidor or coolidor for at least 2 weeks before smoking crack the box to let it breathe better and then enjoy or age em what ever you wanna do.....and again welcome to botl

Personally, I prefer to smoke cigars gradually. I.e., I may or may not smoke one right off the truck, and the next will be at least two weeks old. I then prefer to smoke one ever few months and watch them mature. Due to my anal-retentive/OCD labeling system, I know exactly when I placed the cigar in the humidor.

This is also a great learning experience: some cigars are great right away, while others seem to get exponentially better with age. It's not the destination that's important, but the journey!

From what I have been hearing, these are anywhere from good to great right now. So let 'em sit for a few weeks when you get them to acclimate, then smoke one. If you like it, decide what you want to do with the rest. If you don't like it, let 'em sit longer and try another one. Even if you do like 'em right away I'd try to let a few sit around for a good while to see how they age. I personally have a hard time "aging" something I like as I tend to smoke them all up pretty quickly.

I agree with Stroke (as usual). And I'll add that many Tatuajes improve a lot after the first year or so ... particularly the Broadleaf-clad sticks. I'm planning to smoke my first Anarchy this week or next, and then another a month or so following to see if I want to try down more while they're still around to track down. After that, I'll likely wait a few more months because of my experience with Tats improving (a possible exception to this is the uber-strong Tats like the SW Maduro, Pork Tenderloin, T-Rex, and T100 which many seem to think loose a lot of spice after the first year ... thought the trade-off in flavor may be worth it ... it's all personal preference).

While I agree with the previous posts, you DO have an entire box, so why not toast one?
Worst case scenario is that it smokes bait off, but then you have plenty of time (and inventory!) to re-visit them later.

I would say let them rest for 2 weeks atleast. 2 weeks does not age a cigar, but just ensures it will burn properly. No reason to smoke one right now as the flavor isn't gonna disappear in 2 weeks.

If you like how they taste, just smoke em'. If they're a little "green" let them rest for a few months. Let your palate guide you. Personally, I like the flavor of tobacco after it's been resting for atleast a couple years, that's just my preference. Others like their smokes fresh.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I appreciate all of your experience and feedback. I am going to let everything I get and have been getting sit for a little bit to get used to the new atmosphere and then if I want to smoke something right away I will head to the local smoke shop (right, right around the corner) and pick something up and support them as well.
I have to say one of the greatest things about buying in frequency is seeing those little packages awaiting me when I return home from work. It's like Christmas every evening...I think I am actually addicted to Christmas- not the cigars.
Man- I love that I found this place. I look forward to many, many, many more exchanges of all kinds with you brothers in the time ahead. Thanks again.
