Hey guys, wasn't sure if I should make another one of these or not, but figured it's best not to revive a dead post.

About to purchase some Monte 2's for my father in law, and thought I would pick up some for myself. Want some recommendations from the more experienced members here.

I enjoy flavorful Nicaraguan cigars mostly; Tatuaje TAA, Jericho Hill, Le Bijou, El Gran Rey. Enjoy certain Dominicans as well, Four Kicks, Emilio AF2, Fuente Hemingway. As far as cc's, I've made a few purchases, here were my thoughts:

Monte 2's - Liked them, but they were hit or miss. A lot of straight tobacco flavor for me, at around 1 year in
HdM Epi No 2 - Flavor was okay, but were a bit weak for me
RASS - Too much of a nutty taste for me
QyH Londres Extras - Most were not that great
Por Larranaga Panatela - ^^^

I was thinking Bolivar Petit Coronas, or the tubos no 1. Possibly Partagas Shorts? I've had one PSP 2, it wasn't super memorable. However, maybe the Shorts would be better? I would like to stick around a corona or Cuban corona size; nothing over 52rg. Thanks yall.

It sounds like you prefer the full flavor of NC's and you simply won't get that from CC's most of the time. Bolivar is a full strength cigar but does not compare to a full flavor NC in terms of flavor profile. The yearly Edicion Limitadas have the darker wrappers and come the closest to NC's IMO. Partagas can give off some good spice if you're into that from NC's.

There have been a lot of recommendations given in other threads lately so if you haven't, read through them. Try the Party Shorts as they are great cigars. Also, just try and get 5ers or samplers to see what you like. It can take people awhile to really appreciate and like cuban cigars that come from smoking the full flavored NC's.

AlohaStyle is spot on with his response. Make sure you're willing to appreciate what's unique about cuban cigars. If you're looking for Nicaraguan flavor from a CC you might be disappointed (or at least better off sticking with Nicaraguans). PSD4s are very good for beginners and on the stronger/spicier side. I'd also recommend Bolivar petite coronas. Just don't expect them to taste like a Tatuaje.

Half the fun is in finding new experiences. Make sure to enjoy the journey!

Happy smoking!

Thanks guys; I figured that's probably the answer, but just needed to hear it from somebody else! Been thumbing through the recommendation threads as well as the recent purchase one, but wanted to ask the question point blank.

Sorry to make another one of these threads!

Once you have polluted your palate with non Cuban cigars, you cannot perceive the nuances and flavors they provide.
It took me weeks to purge my self of the power of non Cubans. Now when I smoke one it is all power and disjointed flavors.
I have been smoking cigars for over 40 years,Cubans for about 22 years, and still enjoy trying new stuff.
