Looks cool, but all my my pocket knices aren't "v-edged." If you could disable on of the sharpening rods somehow it would be perfect.

You can have my oil stones when I die. Those gadgets will never do as well of a job as a stone. Different blade shapes get a different angle at different parts of the blade, and the sharpest edges have a grind to them that is at an angle to the edge, not paralel with it.

I've found that what works best for me for long-term sharpness is to stick with the simple rod that came with my set. The stones and gadgets work well, but if you're not careful, you can really ruin the edge and have to take them somewhere to get straightened. I need to learn how to get much more consistency out of my sharpening rod though.

Sharp kitchen knives are one of those things that once you try it, you can't live without them.

A buddy of mine bought one at a gun show a few years ago. They were awesome, but I'm not sure how long the actually diamond sharpening sticks last. I'll have to ask him next time I talk to him.

I use the Lansky system. Works well for me and can do a mirror polished edge. Generally don't go that far for my every day carry knife though.

Not a knife guy, but I use Norton Waterstones to sharpen the chisels in my shop. They come to a true mirror finish and I can shave with them when done. They're sharp enough for me.
