I love the culebra (the C), but the the Old Man sucks. How is it possible? Is this not the same blend as the legendary Tat Black PL? What happened? The first release of the PL was superb. The full lancero in the Old Man package is a different animal. No complexity. Some flavor, but waaaaay sub expectation. Is the Old Man a different blend?

I just opened my Old man and the sea and smoked the black. It wasn't bad! I'm expecting a lot of the culebra . Funny you guys brought this up the same time finally opened the box.

Same blend the difference is that there is less filler in the culebra which enables it to bend easier so they can braid them together. So you have a different wrapper to filler ratio changing the overall profile.

I just smoke my first culebra this afternoon. I was actually a little disappointed. I had a Mummy last week and loved it, so I had high hopes for this. I have not tried the Old Man yet. Hopefully I like it better.

I thought the "Old man" was the same blend as the OR Triunfador lancero, not the black PL..... maybe I'm wrong....
There are two separate old man and the C. El Triunfador Old man and the C and Tatuaje Black Label Old man and the C. I think this thread is just about the black label one. I haven't tried the black label one but love both the El Triunfador Culebra and the lancero.

I wish I had bought the ET version instead of the Black. Some shops still have the Triunfador Old Man and the C in stock, which surprised me a little.

Just picked up a El Triunfador The Old Man and the "C" last night and am excited to see how it smokes since these came out a few years ago. I was really surprised to see that my local B&M still had a few of them left.

Haven't had the Black version yet, but I really want to try it.

Just keep in mind that in general, the Black label is a cigar to AGE. I think the Mummy was aging for a while before they reached us.
