Anyone else had issues with these (otherwise phenomenal) sticks splitting or tearing?

I'm talking the 2014 release specifically, but would love to hear OR stories too.

I heard a lot of stories of damage when recieved. I have personally had to inspect all singles because many have damage.

Exactly this!!

...I've had one split while smoking but it was negligible and that is one of many so far.

Smoked one yesterday on the golf course with no issues. Even used my "Cigar Minder" clip to hold it during most shots on the back nine. Thankfully, I only needed 37 of those

I have had one and have two more in the humi. The first one did have a small issue towards the nub as I smoked it. The wrapper is very thin and delicate on all of the ones that have come into my possession. Not sure which release they are though so I can't comment on that.

Thanks guys -- I get all mine from a B&M so maybe they have humi issues. But man that wrapper is thin! Definitely my favorite release of 2014 so far, even better than Las Calaveras. Have yet to try an Antiguedad. Any other early contenders?

La Antiguedad is pretty damn good, I think if you like the tat black you will be a fan of it too. I have yet to try the las calaveras.

honestly, i can see the tat black wrapper as being a little problematic. if it gets a little too dry (or my dumb ass drops it), you can have some wrapper issues. then again, if it is in the happy zone, they positivelly shine.

i split a couple jars with a bunch of people and the first jar we split had great wrappers and no issues, but the second jar about half of them had fragile thin wrappers with minor damage to the feet and 3 had significant damage. The store gave me store credit for those 3 and told me to keep the 3 badly damaged ones, but they were pretty unsmokable (I tried though, but was unsuccessful). You might have got some from one of the jars like the second one

I experienced similar fragile wrappers from an early jar at a B&M. I recently bought some that definitely had a different wrapper, when compared to the older one, the wrapper was a lighter brown and smoother (less toothy).
