Prelight - slight spice on lips, and a deep plum on the draw
I punched this guy, after smoking who knows how many of these (should have bought a box) I found the punch actually perfect.

Smooth nasal clearing retrohale, not harsh at all though. Wonderful deep cocoa, draw could be a little looser. Slight pepper on the finish. Full body. Some leather notes mixed in with the pepper on the finish.
Note: paired with a Ramu Marble Soda, I am really liking it as a pairing. Surprising.....

Picking up some wood hidden in the cocoa, I want to call it oak. Razor sharp burn. Strength at a mild-medium.

Strength rising slowly, at about a medium now. Burn not as sharp but no problems. Still wishing for a looser draw. The draw is usually no issue with these. Deep cocoa up still. Less woodsy noticeable, pepper really only noticeable on the retrohale. And very faintly at that, long pleasant finish.
Draw opened up at 25 min perfect now smoke production up. Again pairing real well with the Ramu Soda haha great surprise there. Strength still at a medium and body still at a full. Just the way I like it haha. Just knocked the ash, I know it can hold on longer but I don't want to ash on myself.

Full body even fuller, coffee, smooth retrohale. The main shifts in this cigar come in terms of power, still medium Strength but the body does wonders for a stick this size. Slow burner. Pepper is more noticeable on the retrohale the more you want to nub this thing. Pepper is becoming noticeable on the regular draw slowly.

Conclusion: 87
This is something I could smoke twice a week, often smoke once a week, and should have bought a box of haha. For being a small stick it performs better then a lot of bigger and more expensive cigars. Pete knocked it out of the park on this blend. And I look forward to smoking many more.

Friendly reminder/PSA:
This is also what the NHIE thread is for...

(Shamless thread-plug/derailment over. )
Haha. I've been eyeing up that thread for the last week or so waiting for someone to post up some sticks that I actually have! I'll get there one of these days.

Just missed a box of these on SBC last week during their sale. Going to have to toss a fiver in on my next order.

Great review!

This little stick has quickly outranked the PCR for me. Nice review.

Very nice review, Garrett! I've only smoked one of these, but like all of Pete Johnson's blends, it's truly a joy to smoke. Definately need to revisit these as soon as the semi-local B&M gets some more in stock. I seem to gravitate to smaller cigars the more refined my palette gets.

I have 45-50 minutes to smoke a cigar early before I go to work in the mornings. I have been bouncing back and forth between this and the papas fritas. Love the No. 5 and great review here.
