I just finished watching the original "Oceans Eleven" with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr (to name a few). Great movie.

Now they're showing the original 1932 version of "Scarface".

It's really cool to see how the first versions of the films were done and compare them to the "newer" versions. Personally, as much as the Al Pacino version of Scarface is a classic, I prefer the original.

Also, a little useless movie trivia...anyone remember the 80's film "Short Circuit"? There is a scene in that movie where the robot imitates a scene found near the end of the 1932 Scarface movie.

I love Short Circuit!

IMO older originals are good for the acting and directing...newer versions are good for the FX and action.

I love TCM a lot anyway. I sometimes keep the TV at work on it.
It is neat to see the way movies were done years ago compared to now.
And no skanky women in movies back then. Some were less classy looking but never trashy.

TCM is awesome. They play full uninterrupted versions of real classics totally restored, great copies. They really do justice to cinema.

My wife and I as our Christmas present to each other are getting TiVo. TCM is one of the reasons. We seem to miss a lot of the great movies they have.

TiVo will change the way you watch TV. The only commercials I see now are for the Superbowl. FF through the rest. I concur with the TCM sentiment. Another good one is "The Italian Job" '69, although Charlize Theron is much easier on the eyes.

TCM is the best for classics. AMC used to be good too when it first came out but they have gone down hill over the past few years. They do not show as many classics and they have too many commercials. TCM is one of our favorites too!

TCM is great for me since I'm young enough not to have seen almost any of the originals, and like Two Jacks says, AMC sucks lately.

I still want to see "The Italian Job" original. Saw "The Thomas Crown Affair" and "Bullett" which I really liked. Had never seen either before. Now I understand all the references to the Steve McQueen Mustang and car chase sequence.

Yea I need to see the original "Italian Job" too. I certainly have not seen enough of the classics/originals.

It's amazing how many modern movies are just remakes of classics.
This week it's the second remake of King Kong ...

And the movie industry wonders why people don't want to spend $9.00 on a ticket to see a remade movie that they can get at home in a month for less than $4.00
