the other great part?

We get to play with them when they are "off duty" out here.

They are just like your dog...when they're "off the clock"...they are a bundle of energy and LOVE getting patted, scratched behind the ears and hugs.

Just remember...when they are NOT on duty...one command and it goes from being "Doug" (in the movie "UP") to...well...Cujo is rather accurate...

I absolutely love to see dogs that are well trained. I worked at a veterinary clinic near my home town which is close to Whiteman AFB. We'd see dogs from there from time to time, usually when they were needing health certificates to travel. I always loved when they came in cause you don't get much better trained than military dogs. Not like most people who bring in their dogs complaining that they're anxious and tearing things up. You haven't trained them and they don't have a job to do...no wonder they've got behavior problems :thinkidea.

In Abbottabad, the patented load-bearing harness would have enabled a Navy SEAL handler to rappel from the helicopter with his dog strapped to his body. Once in the compound, the dog could run ahead to scout as the handler issued commands through an integrated microphone and speaker in the armor. The proprietary speaker system enables handlers to relay commands at low levels to the dog.
That's bad ass.
