The final leg of my Move to charlotte

I'm not from the area, nor have I been there, was hoping to count on the BOTL to tell me where the places are I should avoid, where it's safe to live in and what reasonable rents look like. I'm low income so that can be worked around, but I'd LIKE to be staying some place near a cigar lounge or bar. I SO miss the Occidental...and Morristown SUCKS haha

Hey man, thanks. I've been around about two years now actually but have been busy with deadlines, as I'm an author and editor. Plus, the separation/divorce and a move to TN from Oakland, CA. Final stop though, Charlotte.

I've lived in Charlotte all my life. If you are low income in California, you'll probably be middle class in Charlotte, lol

You don't want to live on the west side *Fredom Drive Toddville road area) it's a high crime area and a friend of mine that is a policeman on patrol there tells me some pretty hairy stories.

You can probably find cheaper housing out side of Mecklenburg county if you are buying. If you're going to rent. let me know your budget and and I can give you general ideas.

As to cigar lounges there are several spread all over town. Tinderbox has 3 locations, one downtown, another at Southpark mall and another at the Arboretum. Charlotte Cigar cub is downtown on Morehead street and the guy that owns that just opened up a store in Matthews NC, a Small town near Charlotte.
Outland Cigars has locations in Balentyne and the Southpark Area but you have to pay to use the lounges. My favorite, D&K Tobacco is located in Matthews. They have the best prices I've seen but no lounge. You can sneek a smoke if you ask nice. Mcrainies is at PArk road and is a big Pipe dealer but also has a lot of cigars. City Cigar is an offshoot of Mcrainies and is located in Blakney, just south of Charlotte. Last time I was there they didn't have a lounge.
