Saw this on another forum. My heart breaks for the family. While I'm glad that the sick SOB is getting the death penalty, I don't think justice can ever truly be served. Too much damage, too much evil, fell upon good people. I can honestly say I hope that man suffers, I hope it isn't quick.

TL;DR For those who don't want to read the whole article.
-Weirdo sees wife and daughter at grocery store
-Calls his equally sketchy homie
-Said weirdos do home invasion robbery, tie up the husband
-Weirdos Bind and Rape the Wife
-One accomplice leaves house with husband to coerce him to withdraw money from bank
-One of the weirdos rapes one of the children (11 years old? IIRC), burns down the house ,killing kids and wife inside
-Jurors see photos\testimony from trial, need counseling

The punishment fits the crime.
Not even close.

Case in Point -

The last execution in CT was in 2005 - for someone sentenced to death in 1987. Read about Michael Bruce Ross sometime.

Ross confessed to all of the eight murders, and he was convicted for the last four of them. He was sentenced to death on July 6, 1987, and spent the next 18 years on death row.
18 years of free room and board at the Taxpayers Expense? Who's getting punished?

Excellent point! Justice should be swift, and does not need to be tempered with mercy in the case cited above!

I am all for the death penalty, but there must be appeals in any case for our judicial system to work.

Most on this board would not last a week on death row, much less 18 years.

Having said that, Texas does it right:

Average death row time is about 10 years

They are locked in a 8'x6'x7' cell 23 hours a day with a 30 min shower 1 a week, no windows, metal door with just a small openable slot for food, no TV, no radio

Jurisdictions without death penalty statutes: Alaska, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Justice? This animal will sit in a jail cell for years before he dies. I hope he is repeatedly raped in jail!

I heard about this! It sounded like a movie at first because I couldn't believe one human can do this to another? Only in America, can we have the liberty of appeal after appeal after appeal? Some countries you get found guilty, they take you right out back and blow your brains out!

Death penalty too good for these scum bags. Extensive torture followed by prison gang rape each and every day without any possibility of parole should be just about the right amount justice.

I feel that whatever someone did that got them a death sentence, is how they should die. Just so they know how it felt. Maybe only slower.

....hell, I guess we could stone them to death if that would make you feel better. Death row isn't any picnic and eventually the bastard is dead with justice being served so what's the point.

Justice being served? Where was the justice for his victims?

What's the point?

Well, let's see here...

These are the nine inmates currently on Connecticut’s death row:

Robert Breton- Sentenced 10/27/89. Killed his wife and son in Waterbury.

Sedrick Cobb- Sentenced 8/13/91. Kidnap, sexual assault and murder of a woman in Waterbury.

Daniel Webb- Sentenced 9/12/91. Kidnap and murder of a female bank executive in a Hartford park.

Richard Reynolds- Sentenced 4/13/95. Murder of a Waterbury police officer.

Todd Rizzo- Sentenced 8/13/99. Bludgeoned a 13-year-old boy to death in Waterbury.

Eduardo Santiago- Sentenced 1/31/05. Murder for hire of a man in West Hartford.

Jesse Campbell- Sentenced 8/16/07. Murder of his ex-girlfriend and her female friend in Hartford.

Russell Peeler- Sentenced 12/10/07. Ordered the murder of an 8-year-old boy and his mother in Bridgeport.

Lazale Ashby- Sentenced 3/28/08. Rape and murder of woman in Hartford.
21 years on Death Row? Who the hell are we kidding?

Now let's look at Daniel Webb as an example -

Kidnapping and murder for the 1989 slaying in Hartford of Diane Gellenbeck, a 37-year-old Connecticut National Bank vice president
Rather brutal, isn't it?

Then when you look at his criminal record -

Prior to this, Webb already had an extensive criminal record including a 1983 robbery conviction, 1984 rape and kidnapping conviction, and an arrest in 1987 for rape. While out on bail after the 1987 arrest, he murdered Gellenbeck.
And he has been living for the past 19 years on Death Row?

Justice has been served? Not even close.

Now, you say "Death row isn't any picnic"

Inmates may receive mail every day except holidays and weekends. They may have cigarettes, snacks, radios and 13" televisions in their cells. They do not have cable television or air-conditioning and they are not allowed to be with each other in a common room. They can watch church services on closed circuit television. While on Death Watch, inmates may have radios and televisions positioned outside their cell bars.
Rough life for a Death Penalty, isn't it?

The inmates may shower every other day.
Rather convenient.

Death Row inmates are served meals three times a day: at 5:00 am, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Food is prepared by prison staff and transported in insulated carts to the cells.
3 meals a day, delivered in insulated carts so it stays nice and warm for them.

Yeah...That's such a "rough life" for KILLING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING.

I'm a big fan of what you do is what you get, as far as crime and the death penalty.

Steal something expensive, lose a finger. Rob someone's house, they get to go through your house and pick what they like. Rape? Meet my friend Bubba, he gets lonely at night.

I like the idea of burning him to death.

Brutal? Yes. Will it be protested vehemently? Yes. But I really don't give a damn about the opinions of people who argue on the behalf of people who commit crimes like that.
