There here. Ok after 17 days from the day I ordered them, they are in my hot little hands. I’m speaking of my Partagas 898 Varnish, and they are beautiful. There almost too beautiful to smoke. The process with my vendor was amiable. Through a site that I found, I have authenticated them as best I can.

The fallowing photos are of the box that the box came in notice the seals and box codes.

These photos are of the Habana box.

And these are of the sweet cigars.

I’m going to let them rest for some time and then I will write a review. Is it noticeable that I’m a little excided?

No way am I going to smoke one of these cigars for at least two more years, no way!!!! You can’t make me. Ok I smoked one here’s a report.
Manufacturer: Partagas
Vitola: 898 Varnish
Size: 6 2/3”x 43
Country: Cuba of course
Wrapper: Habana

The vendor description was that it was wonderfully decadent (luxuriously self indulgent), and it had a creamy depth of flavors. I have to agree whole heartedly with this description.

The cigar was not that heavy in the hand, but it was firm not overly but firm none the less. That aroma coming off the cigar was intoxicating, a very wonderful musky spicy aroma. The cigar had very fine veins on the wrapper. Even though you could not see the oils you could fill it on your fingers. My anticipation was growing.

Even cutting the cigar put that musky spicy aroma into the air. The dry draw was perfect just the right amount of resistance. I detected an aroma of coffee beans at this time and something ells, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.

Now for one of the best parts for me, the lighting of the cigar. The musky spicy taste came on like gang busters along with the coffee bean flavor. There was a very slight hint of vanilla at this time. I have to admit I was very wide eyed. The finish was long, very long it had that musky spicy flavor that didn’t want to end. I normally will let the finish go away before taking the next draw, but it wouldn’t go away. I never did get the dark chocolate flavor the vendor talked about.

Throughout the smoke it held true to the flavor in that first draw. I have to admit I have never had a cigar take me where this one did it was like a blissful place. The draw was perfect throughout. Even though the flavors were off the scale it was medium in strength. I didn’t want to butt the cigar; I didn’t want it to come to an end.

I milked it for an hour, and was so disappointed that I had to give it up. If I have to grade it from 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I have to give it an 11 1/2.

Lookin' good Hoss  Was it a lot more in your face than the ones I gave you from '03?? Should be right up your alley.

Virgeinadeaux: Thanks for the review, Sounds like a good 8-9-8V to me. Glad your first eperience with this cigar was similiar to mine. I've been smoking them ever since. A true classic Habano IMO.

Oh ya and I've never had a chocolaty tasting 8-9-8 either.

Yeas but not a great amount, it was a little bit stronger but the flavors were in line. Over powering flavors is definitely better then over powering strength. :cbig:

Glad you finally got them in Hoss. Great review. I enjoyed the one Cliff so graciously gave us to smoke at the herf. It was a good one to smoke with the coffee we had IMHO. Looks like I will have to break down and smoke another one soon
