Two men stole about $15,000 worth of merchandise from a Tampa cigar shop by pushing through the drywall of an adjacent office in the early hours of last Friday morning.
Owner D.C. Goutoufas of Gaspars Cigar Shoppe was getting ready to celebrate his second anniversary in business when thieves smashed through the wall in his lounge area between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. according to Tampa police as reported in the Tampa Tribune.
Losses included a plasma television, bottles of spirits and some of the contents from 18 of the 88 private lockers in the lounge, from which about 50 boxes of cigars were stolen. The two suspects were caught on the store surveillance tape, after cutting the wires to the front security panel of the shop. They exited quickly once they entered the walk-in humidor and triggered another alarm.
Police are contacting locker owners to determine just what cigars were stolen; Goutoufas estimated the total damage at about $15,000.
