the fact that the passenger passes out and the pilot is still there, is that all conditioning on the pilots part? that is just amazing, the guys flying those things are insane.

i would LOVE to ride in one, but i would CERTAINLY pass out and puke, haha.

i would love to try it. don't know if i'd stay awake, but what a rush!!

on a MUCH lesser note. if you get a chance to do one of the ride alongs at a nascar track, 165+mph on a banked corner will get your attention real quick!!!

The pilots wear a special "G" suit that forces the blood from the lower part of their body upward to help prevent passing out. That and training on how to breathe and tighten certain muscle groups enable them to do so.

I was fortunate to spend a week aboard an aircraft carrier and had some cool talks with F-18 pilots. I would take a ride with them in a heartbeat. I did get to do a carrier landing and takeoff on another trip aboard the carrier, not on an F-18 though. Still wicked cool.

The blue angels & thunderbirds do not wear the G suits. It gets in the way of doing precise movements in their tight formations

I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'm sure it's partly the training and partly the conditioning level of the pilot. Would seriously love to do something like that.
