To the left of my post, there is a banner for Cigarmony...Where your BOTL donor image is, I have a Cigarmony banner..

A child who will live its life without a father at the mothers choice. This was a wholly (is that a word?) selfish act by the mother because she is unable to let go of her deceased husband. If at some point during the deployment one of the inseminations took, as was planned, then that is one thing, but doing it 2 years after the man has died...I just don't understand.

i can understand that, but he left it for a reason, and signed off on the fact that he knew that she would have the decision power on whether or not to have the child or not..

He did, but by her own admission, they never discussed her having the child after his death...I would assume he signed that paperwork, as with him in Iraq, he wouldn't be able to sign a consent form when she decided to try the procedure...

You guys still not seeing th banner I'm seeing? I'll grab a screen shot..

Yes it did, I'm not saying that she shouldn't have been able to, just saying that it seems like a purely "me" decision on her part...As the article states, the couple had never discussed whether it would be done after his death or not...Just something I don't think should've happened, but my opinion doesn't mean much in the world..

A kid needs his father. I think that she thought of nobody but herself in this situation. Very selfish.

BTW, yes, he left his man batter for a reason, but that was assuming he was coming back to father a child.

Well I think consent is implied by having the sperm donated and not to mention that the by product of sex is offspring...I think it's not that far of a stretch to say that it's what this man wanted.

I think it's a touching story but I don't agree with the act of paternity after death at all, but that's just me.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion I guess.

IMO this is the most honrable way the mother could have ever helped continue her dead husbands legacy. I don't see it as selfish at all. IMO it would be more selfish of her to father a child with someone else while his sperm was available. Why else would he have left the sperm other then to allow her to conceive his child?

As far as the banner goes TC...you might want to clear your temp files or something...I see nothing under you name. :dunno: Haven't you had a similar issue with this before?

I don't think I've had this issue before...Check the post I made in the discussion room...

He left his sperm so that his wife could continue with insemination procedures while he was away from a year in Iraq, the consent form was signed in advance, as he obviously was going to be gone for 12-18 months. At least that is how I am interpreting (sp?) the article. It states clearly that they couple had not discussed the possibility of her continuing with the insemination efforts after his death...
