I have been intrigued by this brand for a while after watching some reviews online and I was wondering what your thoughts were on these cigars. I've never had one but I am looking to try some and just wanted some input before I commit to a big purchase. I'm thinking about the No. 2 or No. 4 if I can find them.

So gents, tell me your thoughts on this cigar....

Personally, I've yet to have a #2 that has been anything but boring. #4s and #5s are like Montecristos- lots of variation. Nice complex cigars if you get good ones. Never had the #1 & am smoking my first box of #3s from 2001. Those are on the mild side but very complex flavors.

the #4 is good but as mentioned above, it has to be a good one. there are serious consistency issues with the brand in my mind

Nice change a pace cigar, but I suggest getting a couple of each to try before making a box purchase....the profile isn't everyone's cup of tea.

#4's are great change of pace cigar. The #2's from early 2000 are stellar. I'd prefer the current monte #2 or VR unicos over the dip 2's.

I love the No 5. That's right up there with the BCJ and always on my shopping list.

I like the 2's and 4's. As mentioned they are a great change a pace cigar.

When purchasing Dips try to get some with dark wrappers. They tend to be more flavorfull.

I have a box of #2's as we speak and they are great! Very sweet flavor..cinnamon..I have had older monte #2's (9 + years) and the new dips are very similar.

have smoked 4 or 5 boxes of #4's...all from '98 tho and last month was the first trip to cuba that i dont remember finding any 98's anywhere...so i cant really comment on consistency.

the ones i have smoked are nothing like monty#4's...light wrapper ones are very sweet and milk chocolatey and medium strength(my favorite early in the day cigar).the dark wrapper ones are very strong with unsweetened chocolate as the main taste and other nummy cigar tastes just below the surface.

i like em and have 4 or 5 or 6 boxes of 98's stashed away.if they can still be found i would be buying.

I think they both are good cigars but not for everybody. I would describe the taste as dry herbs with cinnamon and as said not everyone likes the, #2s need at least 4 years and #4 imho are good to go after 2.

I've only had one Dip ... a #2 from '08. I just plain loved that thing. Not very spicy, not very complex, but it had a wonderful cinnamon profile and the final third was just a dream. I would love to get more.

I'm in the same boat... although I would say the flavor profile on mine was more like pecan sandies and/or Russian tea cakes. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and am thinking of getting a box of the 2s myself.
