Opened a 2000 Silver Mountain Vineyards / Loma Prieta Zinfandel (Lodi) last night. Wooo boy, talk about a potent fruit bomb! This would give most any Aussie Shiraz a run for their money. Lots of thick jammy fruit flavors, some oak and quite a kick.
I actually bought a couple bottles at the winery several months ago as they were closing out the older vintages. Most of the other stuff I tasted there was fairly tame compared to this. After my first sip I noticed the label says it rolls in at 15.8% alcohol ... but it's probably higher. I could only handle about a glass + 1/2 before I was feeling no pain. :bottle:
