The boat I've been working on is leaving tomorrow to sail to it's owner. The interior of the boat is also not finished. So, we all wait for the day when we're asked to sail on the boat to continue work and today my day came. I was asked to sail to Florida for a week and then to Cannes France for a week. Then I was asked if I have a passport...and I don't! OMG, I can't tell you how freakin' bummed I am! No trip for me.

Then to top it all off, it rained like a biatch tonight, very wet conditions on the boat as we make 50 trips a night to the pier to our trailer to make cuts on items being installed.

You should always have a passport in handy... unlike me, i got a temp one issued and only had to send a document to get it officially issued... 3 years later i sent in the paper and they said i had to re-apply!!!

Bummer. My company handled a trip like that a little differently. I had to travel to Switzerland with work, and didn't have a passport. So they paid all my passport fees, including additional to expedited the process, and I had passport in hand in several days.

On the flip side, while it sounds cool to sail to Florida and France, you're away from the people you love, and at the end of the day, it's work.

Dude get a passport and keep one. It only costs like $80 and it lasts 10 years. Speaking of my wife needs to get her new one since we got married. Stupid passport rules changed and if you had your passport for a certain amount of time and then got married you need a new passport. If you were lucky enough to be within the window there was a small processing fee, but outside you pay like normal. No carrying a passport with a certified copy of the marriage license anymore.

Can you elaborate on this a little my wife may need a new passport if what you say is true.

Man that sucks! The wife just went in for a passport renewal and they would change her name on it unless she brought the marriage certificate with her which she seems to have misplaced. Great guess will just have to go the route you are.

You don't need the passport until France, you've got time to get one if you want to jump through the hoops.

Anyway, if it's a missed op, soory dude, where in Florida is it going? I might have been able to meet up with you.
