Not sure home many have come across this problem...ok maybe not a problem. I just got my drawers from Forrest for my Vinotemp 28 wineador. Having a hard time deciding how to organize my sticks and have some boxes that require my not using 2 drawers for them to stay boxed. Need your help here brothers.

1. How would you organize your sticks? By size, brand, etc?

2. Would you leave cigars in boxes or take em out and place em in the drawers?

Just looking for a different perspective and some ideas. Any help is appreciated!

1) I think this is a personal choice thing... but for me.. I organize by brand for the most part.. it makes it easier for me to see when I am getting low on ligas.. or tats.. or diesel.. etc.. so I know when I need to start looking at stocking back up again..

2) I tend to leave cigars in boxes.. but I keep trays set aside for singles as well.. thats where all the odds and ends go.. this is mostly for organizational purposes.. for space, its probably better to move everything to trays/drawers.. boxes tend to take up tons of space (theyre all different sizes and shapes.. so you tend to loose space, because you cant pack them as efficiently..

I use drawers for singles. Boxes go on the bottom of the fridge & in a cooler. Because I don't like to dig in the cooler or look for boxes ect, I usually will take +/- 5 sticks out of all NC boxes before finding a place to put the box. Those singles then go in a drawer for easy access. Anyway....that is my current system.

Depends on your own circumstances obviously but I have evolved to just taking everything out of boxes and using the drawers. You get so much more in that way. One box of 25 stacked in rows of 3 or 4 takes up very little room.

Loses the sexiness of the box but once I started doing it that way it became obvious that it was the better choice for me.

Tubes in 1 drawer, Misc singles in the other 2 drawers with not a huge rhyme or reason as how they are organized since they are not. Try to keep them together by marca and EL?RE.
Bottom of cooler 1 is all boxes. Other 2 coolers are strictly boxes.
If you want to see some really anal storage try to find Kyle's (KPP) photos of his drawers. If he's ever out in Phoenix I would pay him to tetris out my storage and make it look pretty.

1. How would you organize your sticks? By size, brand, etc?

I originally organized by brand, but I'm thinking of shifting to size in my new wineador set up, for two reasons. First, I often can only smoke for say an hour. It would be a lot easier to pull open a drawer and decide between all my different coronas than to open each drawer and try to find or remember what coronas I have in each what brand. Additionally, sorting by size lets you come across singles that might otherwise escape your notice if you're always opening your Fuente or Liga Privada drawer first.

2. Would you leave cigars in boxes or take em out and place em in the drawers?

Personally, I take them all out. There's so much wasted space in a wineador from storing in boxes. Sure, that box of Flying Pigs looks great, but think about how many more cigars you could fit in that same amount of space. For me, space is a premium, I don't want extra coolers, humidors and other stuff taking up more room. I want as many cigars in as economical a space as possible, my goal is to get all of my stash into the wineador. But you might prefer to take more room, but see all those pretty boxes when you open your humi. That's a choice only you can make!

Thanks for the response fellas! Digging everyone's recommendations. Love how we are all a lil' OCD about our organizing our smokes! :crosseyed For some reason I love how the boxes look but right now I have 5 boxes and am torn between leaving the cigars in the boxes. Not sure if anyone thinks there is a difference in the aging process of cigars in boxes vs out of boxes or if it even matters.

I spent the afternoon organizing what was in my cooler and some other smokes I have in 2 separate humidors (I know I know trying to minimize my storage) into the drawers.

Top (removed top drawer) has 3 limited boxes & 2 bundles
Drawer #1 has a bunch of Liga smokes
Drawer #2 has a bunch of Tatuaje smokes
Drawer #3 has a mix on high end singles
Bottom (removed biggest drawer) has a box of T52s and a box of PCRs

I am thinking of breaking down and just putting in bottom drawer and put Ligas (w/ T52s) in there and putting the PCRs in their own drawer with other smaller cigars since that is what I usually smoke. :squinteye

I will have to say that I challenge the thought that boxes take up more room than drawers full of singles. Just by looking at my situations I say I could easily fit 35% more cigars in boxes than I can in bulky drawers that take up a lot of room. In the pic below there are 16 boxes in a 16 bottle cooler. Obviously some boxes are behind the front ones.

Tight packs boxes would take up similar space. But larger boxes with 10-12 cigars are what kills space.

I think I'm going to break down and only have one unico of each in the wineador and then move the other boxes to the basement and the cooler for a longer nap.

I'm thinking the same thing. Going to store my boxes in the cooler in the basement and move one humidor contents into wineador drawer. I know I'll end up buying more boxes sooner or later and I can just throw em in cooler.
