Hey lads, I didn't see a travel forum anywhere so thought I'd post this here.

The lovely super awesome wife has greenlighted a trip to Cuba for us (not a huge shock that she'd agree, since I get the honor of paying for it but whatever...lol)

Anyone here have any experiences to share? Recommendations, things to see, things to avoid, where did you stay etc

I'd love to be able to tour some of the factories and things like that, I've already been looking through the threads on the CA forum but thought I'd see if the BOTL had anything more to add.

Thanks :)

I am not allowed to go, :sadstare: however I am sure some people not from the USA can help you out.

Did the all inclusive thing in Veradero for a week in 2006. Had a great time. The beach at Veradero is awesome if you're into that. :smokingco If I was able to go now I would love to travel around the island but I'm doing the family thing now so I will have to wait another 15 years to do any adventure travel. :hanghead: The Cuban people are great, friendly. You will have a great time I am sure.

Wouldn't you like to know?
First question is where in Cuba are you going. Most of the factories that provide tours are in Havana so it might be tough you aren't planning on heading there. I have never been anywhere in Cuba but Havana so I am not a lot of help if you are going to Varadero. But if you are going to Havana let me know and I am sure I help quite a bit.

haha that's why I posted here. I have no idea yet ;)
Ok well here is what I know tho help. Varadero is supposed to have some of the best beaches in the world and a LCDH. A friend just got back from cayo santa maria and said it was very nice as well. And there is Havana. Havana doesn't have much if any all inclusive resorts but has quite a few nice hotels and depending on what you want the prices will vary. Inside of Havana there is a few of the cigar factories, the rum museum and some of the greatest cigar stores you will ever see. If you know where to go there are some amazing restraunts from simple we'll prepared cuban food to full on gourmet food. Havana also has a great night life from Vegas style shows, night clubs and live Jazz places. If you are travelling with your wife you might want a beach vacations and try to spend a couple of days in Havana. Personally I don't think I will ever go any where in Cuba other then Havana but I am not a big fan of the beach.

If you end up in Varadero, I just got back from the Iberostar Laguna Azul resort, and it was very nice. Great service and rooms. Good food throughout our stay and an incredible beach, as has been mentioned.

There are two LCDH stores in Varadero, with the one on 64th street having a much better selection. If you're wanting to do excursions, I took a photo of the excursions price sheet from the tour desk at the resort. It shows the prices and days that the excursions are offered. If you're going to end up in Varadero, I can definitely send you this photo of the sheet.

Have fun! A day trip (or an overnight) into Havana is a must!

We do hook up tours to Havana from Cancun a few times a year. This next trip is a cigar lovers delight focusing on the factories, and cigars stores of Havana, Miramar, and of course Pinar del Rio. Theres also a side trip to the Havana Club rum factory.

Drop me a line. I'm happy to share information.

Cheers
