Trip to Mexico

This past weekend took a trip to cancun. The entire flight I was really looking forward to landing and getting my hands on a few cubans that I had not yet tried, and was considering ordering boxes.. CoRp and Esplendios were the most pressing because how people raved about the two and the next was bolivar finos.. Well I get settled in take a shuttle to playa da Carmen's 5th ave. And I go to several shops to feel then out.. Was looking for lcdh but didn't see one.. So back to the other shops.. I picked up a CoRo and when I reached for the esplendios I noticed beside it the had a box of cohiba 2008 el's.. And I'm thinking damn it all these are fake.. So I tell worker I don't want any and head to next shop.. And I'll be damned another box of these cohiba 2008 el.. At this point I have no idea if any of the shops there are legit

Long story short I find a random place picked up three sticks i was looking for but have no idea if there legit..

I love CC's but I'm beginning to hate this guessing game..

The most legit shop in Playa is Casa Partagas on 5th between 14th & 16th on the west side IMHO. Good luck and have fun.

Almost everything in Playa should be suspect and considered fake. I heard the lcdh moved to near the beach and that would be the only place to shop. It's been said on this forum a thousand times....Mexico equals fakes period unless it's an lcdh. That's not to say there are not other places that have legit habanos, but the odds are against you!!

I was there(Cancun,Cozumel ,Playa del Carmen and Chichen Itza) this past weekend as well. I went to a couple of the LCDH shops and found the prices to be more than I wanted to pay. Im glad I took my own. I saw plenty of those glass topped Cohiba and Montes....LOL

Was at the LCDH in Cancun last Saturday, and they had a fantastic collection of smokes, even a bunch of stuff fromt he habanos festival. They had DEC 109's still, deliciosos RE from cuba, 2009 habanos festival partagas sticks. They even had Partagas Diadema's which is something I have never seen. Not to mention a ton of custom rolled stuff. Prices are high yes, but if you want to try some cool smokes sometimes its worth forking over the cash. Plus, they had a nice bar and a great little lounge you could hang out in. Personally I settled for my hotel balcony, but a nice shop none the less. It definately beats the hell out of the LCDH in mexico city where I wouldnt touch anything with a 10 foot pole from.

I walked up and down looking for the lcdh, trust me it's not on 5th if there's one in playa da Carmen, u was ok with spending more for the sticks I only wanted 3.. I had my Tavel humi filled to capacity and enjoyed the sticks that I brought from home. Will smoke those that I picked up but not really expecting to be wowed

2009 habanos festival partagas sticks? I don't belive their were any partagas at last years festival.

They just have that weird gold band with the partagas factory.say 2009 on the side. I've seen the band before at the partagas factory LCDH in january of last year. Wasnt actually for the habanos festival, although strategically made around that time.

Nope those are for the partagas festival in November. Supposed to be a great event as well but I have not been able to make it yet. Even though it is a smaller event it has actually been around for longer I believe. I think last year was either the 14th or 15th year for it. They also used to do it twice a year but now with Habanos it is only once.
