Mike Gilroy was a local brother here at the Leaf. He was here several days a week like alot of us. I'm sad to say Mike is no longer with us. Mike passed away on Wednesday night due to cancer. He is survived by a wife and several children, siblings and extended family. He was always in good spirits and was a great brother to have a good cigar with at the lounge. He always had a smile and never complained much about anything.
A few of us at the lounge the last couple of days have been smoking something they've been holding onto to celebrate Mikes life and memory. I was looking thru the Humi to see what I could pull to celebrate his memory as well. Well I found a box of Mag R52 sitting and here is why I choose this cigar.

Mike was always happy to sit down and have a great conversation with. Always smiling never complaining. Just like the R52 being a great value cigar imo, Mike was a great asset to the lounge overall. The 52R has great flavors, appearance, and just a great overall quality. Everytime I smoke one of these cigars it always puts a smile on my face and Mike was the same in many aspects. Great to have around for conversations, always smiling, just a overall great family member at the Leaf.
So I didn't pull the most htf or most impressive cigar in my collection to celebrate Mike's life. Instead I choose something that to me had the same qualites and virtues that Mike had. Always was smiling and always kept you smiling.
Mike you will be missed by us all. Keep smiling and bringing joy to everyone you continue to meet up in heaven. Like I said before we will all miss you Mike and you certainly won't be forgotten.

:( Sorry to hear that. Very touching reminder of what the brotherhood means to all of us I think. Nice touch on the choice of smokes.
Well put.

Very sorry for the loss and prayers for him and his family and fellow brothers.

Sounds like a True Brother to me. Honored with great words by another True Brother.

God Bless Mike and his Family.

I am gonna bust out something special tonight when I get to the Leaf later tonight for two reasons.

I normally did not get out on Friday nights, but on the rare occasion I did, I usually smoked something pretty good cause it was an "occasion" for me. I always saw Mike there when I was doing that, so it's a reminder to me.

But the other thing this has reminded me about is that life is too short to keep hoarding those HTF's and it's time to burn one or two and enjoy them with some friends.

The old Macallan Cask Strength will be coming with too.

Sorry to hear we lost a good brother. It's a sad day when one of us goes down. I am going to light something special tonight in remembrance, whether I knew him or not, I know we would have got along because of the shared love of the leaf! Hopefully he lit one up when he got through the gates and is looking down on us, saluting with a stick.

Sorry to hear that Justin (and Leafers.)

I was going to light a regularish cigar tonight but I think I will find something special in honor of Mike.

I will be right there with you Mike. I have the perfect cigar for the evening. Mike was a great guy and will be missed.
